Why the templates look conventional
Plenty of CV tools sell striking two-column layouts with sidebars, icons and skill bars. They look impressive in a preview and frequently scramble when an applicant tracking system parses them — job titles interleaved with skills, dates attached to the wrong employer.
Ours are conventional on purpose. The document's job is to be parsed accurately by software first and skimmed quickly by a human second. If a design choice risks either, it does not ship. No CV tool, ours included, can promise a specific employer's system will rank you a certain way — anyone claiming otherwise is guessing.
