Calculate your end-of-service award.
Use your last monthly wage as your contract defines it: usually basic salary plus fixed allowances such as housing and transport. Commission, overtime and one-off bonuses are normally left out. Part years count in proportion to the time worked.
How end of service is calculated in Saudi Arabia.
Article 84 — the full award: half a month's wage for each of the first five years of service, and one month's wage for each year after that, based on your last wage. Part years are paid in proportion.
Article 85 — if you resign: under 2 years, no award; 2 to 5 years, one third; 5 to 10 years, two thirds; 10 years or more, the full award. When the employer ends an indefinite contract, or a fixed-term contract simply expires, you receive the full award.
Exceptions: Article 87 keeps the full award in some resignations, for example force majeure, or a female employee resigning within six months of marriage or three months of giving birth. Article 80 allows an employer to dismiss without an award for serious misconduct listed in the law.
Example: SAR 10,000 wage, seven years of service.
First five years: 5 × (10,000 ÷ 2) = SAR 25,000.
Next two years: 2 × 10,000 = SAR 20,000.
Full award: SAR 45,000. If you resigned instead, you would receive two thirds: SAR 30,000.
